St Agnes Croquet Club

St Agnes is a vibrant, friendly croquet club in the centre of the village.
We welcome new members and visitors to play this fascinating game.
We can teach you the elementary rules in ten minutes and you’ll be ready to play.

Croquet is a game of skill, not power. Strategy not strength.
This may be just the game for you – make new friends, enjoy the fresh air and exercise; have fun.

The best way to find out about croquet is to come and give it a try. All you need are flat or soft soled shoes.

Want to have a go – click here to find out how to visit us,
or if you would just like to know a little more don’t hesitate to contact us.
We will be delighted to hear from you.

What is Croquet?

There are two main versions: one learnt in 10 minutes and is quite tactical and can appear aggressive game, the other is like snooker on grass and takes more time to master.

Golf Croquet is easier to learn, with one shot per turn, and is a very popular sociable game played at a fast pace. See here (Link to CA GC description) for a good description.

Association Croquet is more complicated with longer turns and is often described as being akin to Snooker played on grass; as you become more proficient so you are able to build longer turns and use both attacking and defensive moves. Click on the button below for a good description on the Croquet Association website.
